The Power of Words

Most of us have heard the saying, sticks, and stones may break my bones but words don't hurt. As an adult, I know this to be untrue. In fact, words hurt more than sticks and stones because words have the ability to stick with you long after they have been spoken. When someone speaks hurtful words to you, we often replay the words in our minds over and over. Each time we are reliving the hurt.

It's never okay to intentionally hurt others with our words. As a parent, we must be mindful of what we speak over and to our children. We should be building them up, not tearing them down. We must model love and compassion through how we treat them and others because they are paying attention. It's amazing how you can have 364 days of pleasant interactions and 1 day of unkind words. Chances are, the unkind words will stick with them.

About Me

Smartphone

Hello! My name is Jessica. You can call me Jess. Passion Pain Promise is my personal way to connect with and empower other single mothers through encouragement, biblical scripture, and a sense of humor. (Something that I wish I had to help me navigate through the many trials and errors of life.) After much debate, I realized that I could be that someone. Initially, I wanted this to be an in-person group to offer a more personal connection. While that is still my goal, I decided to put my fear aside, be bold and join the online community. As we say in Louisiana, laissez le bon temps rouler...
